Grief Process Groups

Grief can change your relationships, routines, and sense of who you are.

My two weekly, in-person grief process groups in Westlake Village offer adults 18 and older a place to share their experiences and build connection with others living with loss. Both groups meet for 90 minutes and cost $60 per session.

Living With Loss

Living With Loss is for adults grieving the death of someone important, a partner, family member, friend, or another meaningful person. Your relationship may have been close, complicated, or both. Whether the death was recent or years ago, we make room for the feelings and changes you are experiencing now.

For adults grieving the death of a pet or animal companion

Honoring the Bond

Honoring the Bond is for adults grieving the death of a pet or longtime animal companion. This group welcomes the significance of your bond, including the loneliness, changes in daily life, and guilt or uncertainty that can accompany end-of-life decisions. Whether you are mourning a dog, cat, horse, bird, or another animal, your grief is welcome.

The Dual Process Model

My approach is informed by the Dual Process Model of Coping with bereavement. This model recognizes movement between attending to loss, missing, remembering, and feeling while adapting to the changes it brings, such as new routines, responsibilities, and relationships. It also makes room for respite. In group, there is space for sorrow alongside everyday concerns, laughter, relief, and moments of joy, without an expectation to move through grief on a fixed schedule.

Process Groups

These are process groups, with time for members to respond to one another and explore what it feels like to share, listen, and receive support. Drawing on attachment theory and relational therapy, I support opportunities to express needs, notice relationship patterns, and experience connection while respecting differences.

I bring experience co-facilitating an attachment-informed grief group and six years of trauma work as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. When helpful, I may invite gentle attention to body cues and what supports you when emotions feel intense. This work does not involve physical touch, and you can choose whether to participate in these body-focused invitations.

How to Join

To get started, email hello@brandilozano.com with the group you are interested in and your availability for a brief screening conversation. We will discuss your hopes, current support, and whether the group's focus and format fit your needs. We will also review attendance expectations, payment arrangements, and group agreements before confirming your place.

If you are unsure which group fits, you are welcome to reach out and we can explore that together.
